Soozana Pvan

Soozana Pvan is a multi-disciplinary artist with a diverse educational background. She completed a Foundation Diploma in Art & Mixed Media at Camberwall University of Arts. Following that, she pursued her academic career in the field of science, earning a B.Sc in Biomedical Science and an M.Sc in Cancer Biology. She further specialized in cancer research by completing her Ph.D. in Ovarian Cancer at Kingston University in London.

Despite her scientific background, Soozana identifies herself primarily as an artist. She believes that the power of a photograph lies in its stillness, as it allows the viewer to contemplate the captured moment and construct narratives or evoke emotions. She strives to create images that are both familiar and unexpected, exploring various themes such as humor, pain, compassion, and sadness. Her focus is on subject matter, objectivity, fine art, and identity, seeking complexity within simplicity to tell compelling stories. She finds inspiration in the poignancy of couple relationships, family bonds, childhood memories, scenic landmarks, and moments of personal contemplation.

While originally from Sri Lanka, Soozana is currently based in London. She embraces her travels and frequently journeys across the UK and abroad for her photography work, both on location and in the studio.
